The Cloud Guy

About

The Cloud Guy is a working enterprise architect with more than twenty-five years of building software, from hands-on engineering to designing platforms that many teams depend on.

This site is where I write down what I've learned about cloud and AI architecture: ideas worth sharing, honest reviews, and field guides that pull together knowledge you'd otherwise have to collect from a dozen places. Most of it is about AWS, some of it is about Azure, and more and more of it is about agentic AI.

How I approach architecture

  • Start from the business problem. Technology choices follow what the system has to do.
  • Design to a budget. Cost is an architectural property, not an afterthought.
  • Prefer boring where it works. Managed services and simple patterns before clever ones.
  • Make AI earn its place. Agents and models where they pay off, with guardrails and evaluation from day one.

Opinions here are my own and don't represent any employer or client. Nothing on this site is based on confidential work.
